One rough inning brought Porters Chapel Academy’s winning streak to a grinding halt.
Canton Academy (10-6) took advantage of three walks and an error to score six runs in the fourth inning, and went on to beat PCA for the third time this season.
PCA’s winning streak was snapped at five games and its record fell to 9-7. Nearly half of the its seven losses have come at the hands of Class AA Canton.
Booth Buys went 2-for-4 with two runs scored for PCA, and Jeremy Williams drove in two runs. PCA only had three hits in the game.
PCA will return to action Tuesday with a district game at Veritas, then will host Veritas in a doubleheader on Thursday. PCA can clinch its first playoff berth since 2011 by sweeping the three-game series with the winless Lions.
