Leon Blackmore Sr.

Leon “Peter” Blackmore Sr. died Monday, March 24, 2014, at University of Mississippi Medical Center. He was 70.

Mr. Blackmore had worked for Warren County as a truck driver and was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ellis Banks; mother, Susie Anna Blackmore; brothers James Kenny Blackmore and Albert Blackmore; sisters, Betty Blackmore and Rosalie Blackmore.

Survivors include his four sons, Leon Blackmore Jr., Daniel Blackmore Sr. and Christopher Blackmore Sr., all of Vicksburg; three daughters, Janice Mae Washington of Baltimore, Susanna Dee of Vicksburg, and La Donna Blackmore of Jackson; brother, Ellie Blackmore Sr. of Las Vegas; five sisters, Josephine B. Williams and Carolyn Williams of Sacramento, Calif., Mary Tyler , Bertha Blackmore and Linda Briscoe all of Vicksburg;  26 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Services will 1 p.m. Friday, March 28, 2014, at W H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Briscoe officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 6 to 7
