WC’s Doyle to play in All-Star game

Warren Central’s Mario Doyle will get a chance to see how he stacks up with the state’s best players on Friday night.

The junior shooting guard will suit up for the North squad in the Mississippi Sports Medicine North/South All-Star game at Jackson State.

The boys game will be played at 7:30 p.m. The girls game starts at 6, and will be preceded by a dunk and 3-point shooting contest at 5.

Doyle was one of 24 players selected for the game, which showcases the state’s top high school juniors.

Doyle averaged 12.5 points this season in helping Warren Central to a 16-11 record and the regular-season Division 4-6A championship.

Other players in the boys game include Callaway All-American Malik Newman and Jahshire Hardnett, who led Gulfport to the Class 6A championship. Port Gibson’s Kim Windom will coach the South team.

The girls All-Star game will feature Octavia Barnes of Hinds AHS and Reagan Tinner of Port Gibson.
