Food that had burned on a stove was the cause of a late afternoon kitchen fire that damaged at 2 Beauregard Drive Thursday, Warren County Fire Coordinator Jerry Briggs said.

He said firefighters from the Culkin and Fisher Ferry Volunteer Fire departments responded to the 5 p.m. blaze, which destroyed the kitchen and caused heat and smoke damage through the rest of the home, located off Newit Vick Drive.

Cassandra Lumpkin, the homeowner, was not at home at the time of the fire, and the three teenagers in the home were able to escape without injury, he said. Their names were unavailable.
