Catherine Knapp Myrick Martin

Catherine Knapp Myrick Martin, widow of Lt. Col. William Price Martin, passed away April 2, 2014.
Catherine was born May 20, 1921, in Greenwood, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. K. Myrick. She graduated from Mississippi State College for Women with a degree in business.
She worked for the TVA in Knoxville, Tenn., and the U.S. Army Quartermaster Corps in Augusta, Ga., during WWII. She was a devoted military wife and mother. She attended the Church of the Holy Comforter in Montgomery, Ala. and was a member of St. Ann’s Guild and the Altar Guild. She was a member of the Daughter’s of the American Revolution.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Lewis Myrick Smith of Greenwood.
She is survived by her brother, Edwin Kelly Myrick and his wife Marjorie of Memphis, Tenn.; daughter, Elizabeth (Beth) Martin Sojourner and husband Carroll L. Sojourner of Bolton, and their son, William Price Sojourner and family of Floresville, Texas, and their daughter, Anna Catherine Sojourner of Monroe, La.; daughter, Catherine (Cathy) Martin McDonald and her son Martin Kelly McDonald of Jacksonville, Fla.; six great-grandchildren and nieces, nephews and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 7, 2014, at 1 p.m. at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Bolton. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Tallulah. Interment will be at the Bolton City Cemetery after services.
