Bubba Mims golf tournament

The 10th Annual Bubba Mims Memorial PCA Golf Classic is scheduled for April 16 at Vicksburg Country Club. The four-player scramble will have a 1 p.m. shotgun start, and will be preceded by lunch at 11 a.m.

There will be prizes for closest to the hole, closest to the line, and longest drive. Players will also have the opportunity to win a new vehicle from George Carr Buick Pontiac Cadillac GMC by hitting a hole-in-one.

The registration fee is $90 per player. Hole sponsorships are available for $100 per hole, and corporate sponsorships are available for $395. All proceeds benefit Porters Chapel Academy.

Clear Creek Ladies weekly golf report

On Wednesday, the Clear Creek Ladies Golf Association hosted its April Fool’s retirees scramble. The winning team included Jane Loboda, Richard Cooper, Clark McNair and Bob Walters. Laura Lee, Pete Johnson, Ron Pownall and David Rorick placed second. Charlene Hughes, Robert Baudo, Del Cox and Jerry Harmon came in third.

Debra Robinson and Donnie Frith made the longest drives. Hughes, Lee, Pete Johnson and Don Watt took closest-to-pin awards. Chip-ins were made by Robinson, Durwood Tadlock, Del Cox, Charlene Hughes, Bob Walters, Joe Tom, Tommy Johnson, and Richard Cooper.

Mississippi State Road Dawgs Tour

The Mississippi State Road Dawgs Tour, which offers fans an opportunity to meet the university’s athletic department officials, will make a stop at the Vicksburg Convention Center on May 6, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will feature head football coach Dan Mullen. Tickets are $10 per person, which includes a buffet lunch.

Other tour stops include Hattiesburg and Biloxi on May 5; Greenwood on May 6; Huntsville, Ala., and Memphis on May 7; and Philadelphia on May 8.

Hinds CC soccer camp

Hinds Community College will host its annual youth soccer camp June 2-6 on the Raymond campus. The camp is for boys and girls ages 7-14. It will run from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day.

The cost of the camp is $150 if registered before May 15, and $175 after that date. Checks should be made payable to HCC Soccer Camp.

Umps, scorekeepers needed for spring

The Vicksburg Parks and Recreation Department is looking for umpires and scorekeepers for youth softball, adult softball and youth baseball leagues. Employment forms can be picked up at the parks and recreation offices on 100 Army-Navy Drive.

Adult softball registration open

Registration for the Vicksburg Parks and Recreation Department’s adult softball league is open until Friday. Registration packets can be picked up at the Parks and Rec office at 100 Army Navy Drive, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The registration fee is $175 per team, with an extra $10 fee for non-city residents and $20 for residents of Sharkey, Issaquena and Claiborne counties.

A mandatory coaches meeting will be held at the Parks and Rec office Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

AJGT Oak Harbor Spring Classic

The Arrowhead Junior Golf Tour’s Oak Harbor Spring Classic is scheduled for April 12-13 at Oak Harbor Golf Club in Slidell, La. The two-day, 36-hole tournament is ranked by the Junior Golf Scoreboard and is open to players ages 18 and under.

The tournament entry fee is $195. The registration deadline is Wednesday at noon.
