PORT GIBSON — Vernal Hamlin died Sunday, April 20, 2014, at Covenant Nursing Home in Vicksburg. He was 57.

Mr. Hamlin was preceded in death by his father, Randolph Hamlin Sr. and a sister, Carolyn Hamlin.

Survivors include his mother, Ellen Hamlin of Port Gibson; four brothers, Randolph Hamlin Jr. of Mansfield, Texas, Akee Hamlin and Glenn Hamlin, both of Port Gibson, and David Hamlin of Fayette; four sisters, Stella Greenwood and Ora Dotson, both of Port Gibson, Elaine Ware of Dallas and Hazel Barnes of Michigan; and nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 2014, at Greater St. Mark M.B. Church in Port Gibson with the Rev. Barry Thompson officiating. Burial will be at Mercy Seat Cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home Inc. of Port Gibson.

Visitation will be Friday from 1 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home, and Saturday at the church from 1 p.m. until the service.
