Two charged in US 80 car lot thefts

Two people accused of stealing nearly a dozen cars from an auto dealership on U.S. 80 on April 15 were held without bail this morning, and more arrests could be on the way.

Monica Hicks, 36, and Jimmy High, whose age was not available, were arrested at about 4 p.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of Choctaw Circle and charged with 11 counts of auto theft, Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said.

“More arrests are expected,” Pace said.

The two are accused of stealing 11 cars from River City Auto Sales, 520 U.S. 80, on April 15.

“This has been a non-stop investigation, and in short order we recovered 10 of the 11 cars,” Pace said.

 

Man held in pot case

A Vicksburg man accused of felony marijuana possession was held without bail this morning.

Lonia Wright, 32, who lives on Standard Hill Road, was arrested at 11 a.m. Thursday and charged with felony possession of marijuana, Vicksburg police Lt. Sandra Williams said.

Wright’s arrest stemmed from an undercover narcotics operation, she said.

Wright was set to appear in Vicksburg Municipal Court this morning.

 

ATV, gun missing 

An all-terrain vehicle and gun were missing this morning following a theft Thursday on Deer Creek Road.

At 6:36 p.m. Thursday, a 2006 Yamaha Big Bear 400 ATV, a semiautomatic pistol, a debit card and an ATV ramp were reported stolen from the 600 block of Deer Creek Road, according to Warren County sheriff’s records.
