COLUMBUS, Ga. — Gerald “Jerry” Arthur Melsheimer Jr., 75, of Seale, Ala., died Sunday, April 27, 2014, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2014, at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Melsheimer was born Nov. 3, 1938, in Vicksburg, the son of the late Gerald Arthur Melsheimer Sr. and Grace Ross Melsheimer. He was in the United States Army, serving two tours in Vietnam. Mr. Melsheimer was the secretary-treasurer of the Phenix City Forge and owner of Melsheim Forge. He was a member of the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association and an endowment member of the NRA.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Frank Melsheimer.
Survivors include his wife, Doris; and two brothers, Donald Melsheimer and Henry Melsheimer.
