St. Aloysius’ bid for a state championship hit a speed bump on the tennis court Friday.

Aaron Mathis lost 6-0, 6-1 in the Class 1A boys singles final to Chris Wilkins on Sacred Heart.

In girls doubles, the team of Kori Vessell and Allie Falls also reached the championship match before losing to Katherine Ann Terracina and Sarah Hayek of Greenville-St. Joseph 6-4, 6-3.

St. Al had previously lost in the first round of the state playoffs in the team tournament.
