CRIME: Man caught breaking into police cars

A Redwood man caught breaking into patrol cars at Vicksburg police headquarters early this morning was held without bail today, Vicksburg police Lt. Sandra Williams said.

Wilson Herron, 54, who lives on Mississippi 3 in Redwood, was arrested at about 1:30 a.m. today and charged with auto burglary, Williams said.

VPD investigator John Nguyen noticed Herron breaking into the vehicle, Williams said. Herron fled on foot when Nguyen attempted to stop him, she said.  After a foot chase, Herron was arrested and property stolen from the vehicles was recovered, Williams said.

Herron was held without bail this morning in the Issaquena County Correctional Facility awaiting his initial appearance in Vicksburg Municipal Court.

 

Shots fired at home

A shooter was on the lam today after firing several shots into a home on Dabney Street.

At 1:30 a.m. today, several shots were fired into an occupied residence in the 500 block of Dabney Street, Vicksburg police Lt. Sandra Williams said.

No one was wounded in the shooting, she said.

 

Bond set for four shooters

Four Vicksburg men accused of shooting into two homes and damaging two vehicles in the wake of an early morning shootout in the 700 block of First North Street Friday had their initial court appearance Monday.

Bond was set at $125,000 for Ambus Wallace, 29; Ellis Wilson, 38 and Justin Williams, 29. Jimmy Hill, 26 had bond set for $150,000.

All four men face charges of shooting into an occupied dwelling and shooting into a vehicle, and multiple counts of aggravated assault. Wallace, Wilson and Williams each also face two counts of aggravated assault, while Hill faces four counts. They are being held in the Warren County Jail.
