Reader envious of city speed trailer

I read with interest and a twinge of envy about radar trailers being used in the City of Vicksburg. My fervent prayer is that these will some day be implemented in the County — in particular, on Culkin and Boy Scout Roads.
There are a number of Talledega wannabees who have been allowed to race up and down these roads with impunity for the 13 years that I have lived on Culkin Road. In addition to speeders, there is the extra added attraction of loud mufflers, or the absence of mufflers that consistently jangle the nerves and offend the sensibilities of the residents in this area.
It seems to me that the Sheriff’s Department could make a small fortune issuing speeding tickets and tickets for disturbing the peace in this neighborhood and adjoining thoroughfares. It’s a good thing we don’t have a cemetery out here because the noise is enough to raise the dead most afternoons.
I pray success for the City of Vicksburg in eradicating their speeding problem and hope that one day the County will receive equal attention and consideration in that regard, in addition to the eradication of noisemaker vehicles in the county.
I don’t know if people with loud trucks take the time to read a newspaper, but if by some miracle you do happen to read this, please know that no one is impressed with your loud trucks. Please tone them down.
