Man jailed in cocaine case

A Vicksburg man accused of cocaine possession was held without bail this morning.
Thomas James, 25, who lives on Roberta Circle was arrested Wednesday and charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, Vicksburg police Lt. Troy Kimble said.
James was arrested after employees of Battlefield Campground, 4407 I-20 Frontage Road, reported drug activity on the premises, Kimble said.
During James’ arrest, police seized cocaine with an estimated street value of $1,000, Kimble said.
James was held without bail this morning in the Issaquena County Correctional Facility.
Two busted in forged check ring
Two Vicksburg men involved in a forged check ring were arrested this week.
Leron Evans, 28, who lives on West Magnolia Street, was arrested Monday and charged with uttering forgery and conspiracy to commit a crime, and Andarius Peacock, 21, who lives on Finney Street, was arrested and charged with 12 counts of uttering forgery, Vicksburg police Lt. Troy Kimble said.
Evans, who was on probation for a similar charge, was held this morning in the Warren County Jail for the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
Peacock posted $18,000 bail and was released.
The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected, Kimble said.
Man charged with selling stolen beer
A Warren County man accused of stealing and reselling beer from a gas station was in jail this morning.
Jeremy Austin, 26, who lives on Gibson Road, was charged Thursday with grand larceny, Vicksburg police Lt. Troy Kimble said.
At the time he was charged, he was incarcerated in the Warren County Jail on an unrelated charge, Kimble said.
Austin is accused of is accused of taking the beer valued at $600 between January and February when his girlfriend Shaqnayla Williams, 22, who lives on West Magnolia Street, was employed at Kangaroo Express, 3140 Indiana Ave., Kimble said.
On Feb. 24 Williams was arrested and charged with embezzlement, Kimble said. She posted $5,000 bail and was later released.
Austin was held in the Warren County Jail this morning in lieu of $10,000 bail.
Blower, saw missing
Tools were missing this morning following a burglary reported Wednesday in Warren County.
At 1:14 p.m. Wednesday, a Murray leaf blower valued at $100 and a Poulan chainsaw valued at $250 were reported stolen in the 10 block of Frank Williams Road, according to Warren County sheriff’s records.
Man held for probation violation
A Warren County man accused of violating his probation was held without bail this morning.
Colton Quade Branning, 26, whose address was not available, was held in the Warren County Jail this morning for a probation violation, according to jail records.
Branning was convicted in 2009 of simple assault of a police officer.
Additionally, Alisa Burnside, 18, who lives on Leland Drive, was held for a drug court violation.
