Virginia Maud Stanley died Friday, April 18, 2014. She was 83.

She was born Aug. 26, 1931, in Delta City to the late Johnny and Lola Sylvester. She received her degree in nursing, a vocation she served until her retirement. Living most of her life in Vicksburg, she moved to Marianna, Fla., in 1998. She was married to the late Roy Stanley Jr. for 47 years until his death in 1998. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley enjoyed traveling, and participated in several Christian missionary trips to Honduras. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth Wheeler; infant daughter, Linda Carol; and grandsons, Keith and Blaine Myers.

Survivors include her daughters, Genelle Shy, Kathleen Evans and Joy Bennett; son, Tim Stanley; and sister, Elaine Smyly; eight grand children; and 12 great- grandchildren.

A graveside memorial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 17, 2014, at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.
