Vesta Lavelle Mayfield

BRANDON — Vesta Lavelle Mayfield, 96, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2014, in Ridgeland.
Visitation will be held Monday, May 12, 2014, at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home on High Street from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with the funeral service following. Burial will follow at John’s Cemetery.
Mrs. Mayfield was born on Oct. 23, 1917, to Mr. Wilson Stevens and Mrs. Nola Welch Stevens.
She was a charter member of Wesley United Methodist Church and a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church since 1989. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and was devoted to taking care of her family.
Mrs. Mayfield was preceded in death by her husband, Haskell Harmon Mayfield, and parents, Wilson and Nola Stevens.
She is survived by her daughter, Susie Angelo (Jim) of Brandon; grandsons, Stephen Patrick Angelo (Emily) of Chicago, and Gregory Gus Angelo (Kari) of Sacramento, Calif.; great-grandchildren, Nicholas James Angelo of Chicago, and Olivia Kathleen Angelo of Sacramento, Callif.; sisters, Lucille Robbins and Mary Walter; and a niece, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to thank all those who were so helpful and caring in recent years. We especially thank Ruby Lewis and Lucy Davis, two outstanding caregivers; her doctor of many years, Dr. Isaac Aultman; and all those at St. Dominic’s Hospital, Wisteria Gardens Rehab, and Hospice Ministries of Ridgeland who provided so much to all.
