PORT GIBSON — Mable Shelton Brown, a native and lifelong resident of the Blue Hill community, died Wednesday, May 14, 2014. She was 89.
She was born to Luther Lewis Shelton and Vera Thompson Shelton on Dec. 28, 1924, and was a member of Red Lick Baptist Church.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilton Brown.
Survivors include two sons, Burnie W. Brown of Lorman, and Johnnie R. “Ray” Brown of Saltillo; a daughter, Sue Spann of Ridgeland; a brother, Thomas Shelton of Hattiesburg; two sisters, Janie Cole of Blue Hill and Lillie Johnson of Fayette; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services will 10 a.m. Friday, May 16, 2014, at Glenwood Funeral Home in Port Gibson with the Rev. Charles Gammel officiating. Burial will follow at Cane Ridge Cemetery in Lorman.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Joe Brown, Brian Brown, Jamie Spann, Tim Spann, Nick Spann, and Chris Taft. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Starnes, Jimmy Cole, Kerry Brown, Virgil Scott, James Ray Burnett, Mary Roberts, and Mike Piazza.
