Irma Welch Chappell died Sunday, May 11, 2014, at Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Sarasota, Fla. She was 92.

Mrs. Welch was born April 3, 1922, in St. Andrews, Fla. She married R.F. Chappell in 1938 in Vicksburg, and moved to Sarasota, Fla., after his death in 1994. She was a longtime member of Bowmar Baptist Church.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, E.B. “Ben” Welch and Crocia Williams Welch; siblings, Winfred Welch, Bennie Lee Welch White, and Barbara Welch Hedstrom; and great-granddaughter, Taylor Chappell.

Survivors include her brothers, Ben Welch and Paul Welch; and sisters, Gay Nell Deale and Vera Dear; three sons, Ben, Charles, and Rick; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 17, 2014, at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery in Vicksburg with Pastor Terry White officiating.

Memorials are requested to be given to a church of choice and in her memory.
