Irma Welch Chappell

Irma Welch Chappell, age 92, went to meet her Savior on Sunday, May 11, 2014, leaving behind a multitude of loved ones. She is preceded in death by her husband of fifty-five years, R.F. Chappell, next to whom she will be buried; her parents, E.B. “Ben” Welch and Crocia Williams Welch; siblings, Winfred Welch, Bennie Lee Welch White, and Barbara Welch Hedstrom; and great-granddaughter, Taylor Chappell. She is survived by two brothers, Ben Welch and Paul Welch; and two sisters, Gay Nell Deale and Vera Dear. She leaves three sons, Ben, Charles, and Rick; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Irma was born April 3, 1922 in St. Andrews, Florida. In 1938 she married R.F. Chappell in Vicksburg, where they raised their family. R.F. died in 1994 and around 2000, Irma moved to Sarasota, Fla where two sons lived. She expired in the Sarasota Memorial Hospital from renal failure and pneumonia. Prior to leaving Vicksburg, she was a long-time active member of Bowmar Baptist Church.
Graveside services were held at the Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery in Vicksburg Saturday, May 17, 2014. Pastor Terry White officiated. Memorials are requested to be given to your church and in her memory.
