Jane Dowdell Montgomery, a native of Port Gibson and resident of Baton Rouge, La., passed away Saturday, May 17, 2014, at the age of 88.

She was a member of Port Gibson Baptist Church. Her greatest love was serving the Lord, her family and friends. She was a lady of great strength, grace, and faith. One of her proudest endeavors was her cookbook, “Recipes from Home,” which she enjoyed sharing with family and friends.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Malcolm Montgomery Jr.; daughter and son-in-law, Martha Harpole and Wilbur of Port Gibson; son and daughter-in-law, Oby W. Easley III and Shirley of Oxford; son and daughter-in-law, David D. Easley and Marilyn of Cedar Bluff; daughter and son-in-law, Marianne Granier and James of St. Francisville, La.; daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn Lambert and Eddie of Prairieville, La.; 19 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Cornelia Dowdell; first husband, Obadiah W. Easley Jr.; brother, David M. Dowdell, Jr.; and sister, Martha Dowdell Ratliff.

Visitation will be at Port Gibson Baptist Church in Port Gibson Tuesday, May 20, 2014, from 1 p.m. until services at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Wintergreen Cemetery in Port Gibson.

Pallbearers will be David Coon, Brian Coon, Jeffrey Coon, Jeff Harpole, Derrick Harpole, Jake Easley, Richard Cross, Oby Cross, David Easley, Jr., Adam Easley, Jody Criss, Jonathan Criss, Ryan Wallace, John Lambert, and Ben Petit.
