Reader thankful for D.C. trip itemization

On behalf of the taxpayers of Warren County/Vicksburg, I want to thank the Post for publishing the costs associated for 17 people to go to Washington D.C.. It is unfortunate that you had to use the Freedom of Information Act to get the numbers. The Casinos have been around for about 20 years, each month the casinos give the city, schools and county approximately $500,000 a month from revenues. My math tells me that is $120,000,000 for twenty years. Is it possible to find some ledger that shows where this amount of money was spent on anything significant for the community, other than day to day expenses? That would be an interesting search.

P.S. Hey Bill, I never stated that the trip was not necessary, but why did 17 people have to go. Headlines is the last thing I am looking for, I believe the taxpayers have a right to question where elected officials are spending our tax dollars. If this is a “testy” issue with you as a politician, you might be in the wrong career field.
