The main entrance to the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center on Halls Ferry Road will reopen to traffic on Tuesday, according to a spokeswoman.
Work to build a larger, covered checkpoint there is part of a $1.1 million reconstruction of three entrances to the R&D facility. Gate 2, farther south on Halls Ferry, will remain open, from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, ERDC public affairs chief Deborah H. Quimby said.
Also on Tuesday, the entrance gate on Bazinsky Road will close for about four weeks as a similar covering is built over a security stop there. The Corps is using anti-terrorism funds to finance the work to cover the security checkpoints.
