PORT GIBSON — Howard H. Townsend died Saturday, May 24, 2014, at River Region Medical Center. He was 77.

Mr. Townsend was a member of Tillman Chapel Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, U.D. and Lula Brown-Townsend; nine brothers; and four sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Townsend of Pattison; three sons, Phillip Townsend and Adam Townsend, both of Port Gibson, and Jonathan Townsend of Pattison; a brother, Robert Earl Townsend of Pattison; seven grandchildren; five sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law, and of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Services will be 1p.m., Saturday, May 31, 2014, at Rose Hill Christian Church in Lorman with the Rev. Walter Chambers officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home Inc. of Port Gibson.

Visitation will be Friday from 1 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home, and Saturday at the church from noon until the time of service.
