Mary Morrissey Jones Kavanaugh

Mary Morrissey Jones Kavanaugh died Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at her home in Hattiesburg.
A former resident of Vicksburg, she was the daughter of the late Jesse F. Jones and Josephine Morrissey Jones. She was a graduate of St. Francis Xavier Academy, Class of 1962, and received her degree in social work from Louisiana Tech University. Mrs. Kavanaugh was a former employee of the Warren County Employment Service and retired from MIDD-West Industries with 25 years of service. She was of the Catholic faith.
She is survived by her son, John F. Kavanaugh of Hattiesburg; two grandchildren, John Francis Kavanaugh and Mary Beth Kavanaugh; brother, Lt. Col. (retired) Jesse Jones of Leavenworth, Kan.; and her cousins, Mittie Towne Warren, Michael Morrissey, Josephine Pratt and Mike Woody.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Nina Alvarez.
Services will be noon Friday, May 30, 2014, at Riles Funeral Home with Father P. J. Curley, pastor of St. Michael Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday from 10 a.m. until the service.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Susan Yerger, Mary Love Simrall, Mary Margaret Brabston, Jeannie Deen, Alice Portwood, Betty Carol Morrow, Patty Cappaert, and her many friends.
Memorials may be made to Vicksburg-Warren Humane Society, Paws Rescue and MIDD-West Industries.
