Evelyn Culberson Breland

Evelyn Culberson Breland died Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at Promise Hospital of Vicksburg. She was 82.

Born in Philadelphia, she had been a resident of Vicksburg since 1956.  Mrs. Breland worked in the Warren County School System until her retirement. She loved her church, Lighthouse Baptist, where she was a member of the Mike Sharp Sunday School Class. She was known for her homemade cobbler and ice cream. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Kenneth C. Breland; three daughters, Beverly B. McMillin (George), Kathy B. Myers (Stanley) and Debra B. Grayson( Joe); six grandchildren, Andrea McMillin (Easterling), Lori Williams (David), Kenny McMillin (Deborah) Carrie Callender (Jimmy), Gabe Crutchfield (Renee) and Todd Myers (Tish);

11 great-grandchildren, Kenny McMillin, Morgan Callender, Skylar Williams, Natalie McMillin, Chelsea Myers, Anna Callender, Jon Cade Easterling, Bree Easterling, Phillip Crutchfield, John Russell Myers and Noah McMillin; two sisters, Madine Wilkerson of Jackson and Audine Ware of Pensacola, Fla.; four sisters-in-law, Katie Hicks, Retta Culberson, Irene Wade and Liz Culberson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, W. J. Culberson and Murl Culberson; and a sister, Erma Jean Culberson.

Services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Riles Funeral Home with Dr. E. L. Sharp, pastor of Lighthouse Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from noon Saturday until the service.

Pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be her nieces and nephews and her friends, better known as the “Fabulous Five,” Retha Tanner, Peggy Conerly, Lucille Clark and Johnny Lee; the staff of Promise Hospital; Dr. Paul Pierce III; and members of the Lighthouse Baptist Church.
