A California woman running across the country to support veterans plans to add Vicksburg National Military Park to her list of stops today.
Anna Judd, a Santa Ana, Calif. native, will be in the park at 6 p.m. to raise awareness for veterans issues, said Jessica Harville, of the Shreveport, La. chapter of Team RWB, a national military veterans awareness group.
Judd, the subject of a website, www.annarunsamerica.com, began the odyssey in March at Venice Beach pier. The trip ends in New York City’s Washington Square Park on July 28, according to the website. A link appears on the website to join up with the effort.
Her arrival falls after the park’s closing time, at 5 p.m. Fees to enter the park still apply for anyone who comes to the event, said VNMP superintendent Mike Madell, who said he learned about the event Friday. Fees are $8 for vehicles and $4 for pedestrians and individuals on motorcycles and bicycles.
Rudd is running along U.S. 80 to avoid interstate traffic, Harville said. Her next stops are in Birmingham and Fort Rucker, in Alabama.
