Man faces weapons charge
A Vicksburg man was being held in the Warren Count Jail in lieu of $25,000 bond charged with being a convicted felon in possession of a pistol, Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said.
He said deputies arrested Ottis Daniel Sanders, 43, 4422 Lee Road, at his camper trailer Thursday afternoon after an investigation following his arrest on a misdemeanor drug charge that morning.
Thursday morning, the sheriff said, deputies responding to a report about a car running off the road on I-20 eastbound near the state truck scales found Sanders and his car off the highway. While investigating the incident, deputies found Sanders had a small amount of an unnamed drug and arrested him.
During a follow-up investigation, the deputies, who knew Sanders was a convicted felon, learned about the gun and got a search warrant from Justice Judge James Jefferson. They found a Charter Arms .38-caliber revolver in the trailer and arrested Sanders.
