Gertrude Staley died Tuesday June 17, 2014, at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. She was 84.

She was born in New Jersey on August 3, 1929, to Charles Eckert and Rose Cosgrove Eckert.

She was employed as an accountant in real estate.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include three sons, Andrew George of Cary, Daniel George of Texas, and Steven George of Pennsylvania; two daughters, Lois Smith of Pennsylvania and Priscilla Pinero of New Jersey; a brother, Charles Eckert of Florida; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. at Cary Methodist Church Cemetery in Cary, Thursday June 19, 2014, with Rev. Johnny Sanders officiating.
