Lorraine Wood Hamilton

Lorraine Wood Hamilton, formerly of Port Gibson, died Sunday, June 15, 2014, in Baton Rouge, La. She was 95.
Mrs. Hamilton was a native of Claiborne County and was a longtime resident of Port Gibson. She moved to Baton Rouge on June 16, 2002. She was a graduate of Port Gibson High School and Jackson Commercial College. She served as deputy tax assessor of Claiborne County for one year, and then as deputy chancery clerk from 1942-1969.
She served as pianist for 27 years at Shiloh Baptist Church, and later was a member of Stepping Stone Baptist Church before moving to Baton Rouge.
She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Andrew E. Hamilton.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
Services will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2014, at Winter Green Cemetery in Port Gibson.
