PORT GIBSON — Charlotte Butler Shorter died Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at her home. She was 95.

Mrs. Shorter was born Nov. 25, 1918, in Pattison and was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Shorter and Martha Butler; husband, Redus Shorter Sr.; five daughters, Martha Ann Shorter, Mary Louise Shorter, Charlotte T. Mecene, Dorothy Lofton and Helen L. Shorter.

Survivors include five sons, Redus Shorter Jr. of Hillside, N.J., Richard Shorter of Buffalo, N.Y., Eddie L. Shorter of Jackson, Dexter Shorter of Port Gibson, and Michael Shorter of Memphis, Tenn.; two sisters, Mary Eggleston of Oak Park, Ill., and Annie L. Brown of Columbia, S.C.; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be noon Saturday, June 28, 2014, at Second Baptist Church in Port Gibson with the Rev. Leon Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Grove Cemetery in Pattison under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home of Port Gibson.

Visitation will be today from 1 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
