Four held for Pemberton store robbery

Four youths, three from Vicksburg and one from Lafayette, La., were held today in Issaquena County on various armed robbery charges after they held up a check-cashing store.
Jasmine Simmons, 23, 4920 Halls Ferry Road, Devonte Tolliver, 18, 411 Moss St., Lafayette, A.C. Washington III, 25, 2160 South Frontage Road, Brittany Ward, 21, 701 Redbone Road, were arrested at different times and locations Thursday, Vicksburg Police Capt. Sandra Williams said.
Two clerks at Quick Cash, 3412 Pemberton Square Blvd., told police two males came into the store showing a weapon, then jumped the counter, robbed the business of cash and fled the scene by car. The amount was not disclosed.
The vehicle, a 1992 Cadillac Eldorado, was found abandoned less than a quarter-mile away, at Pizza Hut, with a handgun believed to have been used in the robbery and some of the stolen cash inside, Williams said.
On Friday, VPD announced it had obtained a warrant from the Lafayette Police Department for Tolliver’s arrest on an unrelated burglary on which a $500,000 bond had been set. The four will be arraigned Monday for armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery.
Driver in May fatal wreck charged with DUI, released later in day
A Vicksburg man who drove one of two vehicles involved in a fatal head-on collision Washington Street May 24 was arrested Friday morning for aggravated DUI, police said.
Dakota West, 22, was arrested at his home at 1270 Jeff Davis Road on a warrant served by Vicksburg Police and Warren County sheriff’s deputies, Vicksburg Police Capt. Sandra Williams said.
West was released late Friday on an $85,000 bond, according to Warren County Jail records.
West was behind the wheel of a Lincoln LS when it collided with a Ford Aerostar van near Washington and Bowman streets. Krystal Foster, 26, a passenger in the van, was killed in the collision. The driver of the van was not injured.
