James “Poonie” Jones died Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at his home. He was 79.

He was a former City of Vicksburg employee and was a member of Pleasant Valley M. B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Jones and Katherine Johnson; wife, Helen Williams Jones; his sons, Robert Earl Jones and Michael Mann; and a brother, Walter Jones Sr.

Survivors include his daughter, Kathryn Brown of Vicksburg, one grandchild; three-great grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2014, at Pleasant Valley M. B. Church with the Rev. Joe Harris officiating.
