BOLTON — Verlean Lewis “Lil Girl” Holmes died Saturday, July 21, 2014, at Central Mississippi Medical Center. She was 77.

Mrs. Holmes was born Aug. 25, 1936, in Bolton to the late Willie L. Lewis and Pearline Tucker Lewis. She was a member of Brownsville M.B. Church.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Willie L. Lewis; father-in-law, Dave Holmes Sr., mother-in-law, Corene Holmes, three sisters-in-law, Thomasine Wilson, Mary Louise Warren and Anna Mary Holmes; and four brothers-in-law, Albert Lee Holmes, Clifton Holmes, Cleather Holmes and Cleotha Holmes.

Survivors include her husband, Dave Holmes Jr.; a daughter, Earlean Lewis Bradley; two grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be 11 a.m. Sunday, June 29, 2014, at Brownville M.B. Church in Bolton.

Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday at Willis and Sons Funeral in Jackson.
