Ross pitches M-Braves past Huntsville

PEARL — In just his second Double-A start, Greg Ross threw a complete game shutout to lead the Mississippi Braves to a 6-0 victory over the Huntsville Stars Monday night at Trustmark Park.

Ross (2-0) scattered six hits and two walks, and struck out three batters in the M-Braves’ first nine-inning complete game since July 22, 2012.

Kyle Wren went 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs to back Ross, and Barrett Kleinknecht hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning. Mycal Jones went 3-for-4 with two runs scored.

The M-Braves scored five runs in the bottom of the fourth to take the lead for good. Kleinknecht’s home run made it 2-0, and Wren added an RBI single later in the inning.

The M-Braves and Stars continue their five-game series tonight at 7 at Trustmark Park.
