One man was injured and Vicksburg police are searching for suspects in a Friday morning shooting.

The man was hit by gunfire at 4:30 a.m. near the intersection of Mississippi 27 and Clay Street just inside the city limits, Vicksburg police Lt. Troy Kimble said. Kimble declined to identify the victim, saying the investigation was ongoing Friday evening.

The fight began earlier in the morning at about 2 a.m. as a physical altercation, Kimble said.

When the shooter returned, he fired multiple shots, striking the victim once.

The suspect fled on foot.
