A night after taking one of their worst losses of the season, the Mississippi Braves were the ones doing the pummeling.
The M-Braves amassed 18 hits and took the lead for good with three runs in the eighth inning en route to a 7-4 victory over Montgomery on Tuesday night.
Daniel Castro went 5-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs, Jose Peraza was 4-for-5 with two doubles, and Barrett Kleinknecht had three hits for the M-Braves.
The M-Braves salvaged their second win of an odd five-game series with the Biscuits. Mississippi outhit Montgomery 14-6 in the first two games, but lost both; won the third game; was hammered 9-0 in game four; and then needed to scrap late to pull out the finale despite outhitting the Biscuits 18-8.
Castro’s one-out homer in the eighth tied the game at 4, then three straight hits gave the M-Braves the lead. Kleinknecht singled and scored the go-ahead run on a triple by Mycal Jones, and Peraza brought in Jones with an RBI double.
Cedric Hunter led off the ninth inning with a solo homer to add an insurance run.
