Rufus Lee McKay OBIT

Funeral services for Rufus Lee McKay will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Mount Heroden Baptist Church, with Rev. Dr. L.A. Hall Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Friday at the funeral home from 1 until 6 p.m., and on Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.

Mr. McKay died Mon., July 21, 2014, at River Region Medical Center. He was 87.

He was a member of the legendary Red Tops of Vicksburg and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

He was preceded in death by a son, Darrell L. McKay; two daughters, Eunice McKay, and Melanie McKay Straughter; four brothers, Walter James McKay, Howard Thomas McKay, Edward Thomas McKay, and Johnny Lee McKay; two sisters, Beatrice Johnson, and Elizabeth Harper.

Survivors include two sons, Rufus L. McKay of Montgomery, Ala., and Dean McKay of Vicksburg; three daughters, Jacqueline Mims, Baton Rouge, La., Kim L. McKay, Plano, Texas, and Carol McKay Williams of Vicksburg; one sister, Mary McKay of Connecticut; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
