The Mississippi Braves ended their road trip, as well as their losing streak, in dramatic fashion Friday night.
Kyle Kubitza’s two-run triple highlighted a five-run rally in the top of the eighth inning, and the M-Braves outslugged the Tennessee Smokies 9-8.
The M-Braves snapped their three-game losing streak and ended a 10-game road trip to Birmingham and Knoxville with a 4-6 record. They’ll start a 10-game homestand tonight at 6 against Pensacola.
In the eighth, the M-Braves got an RBI double from Braeden Schlehuber and Kubitza’s triple, and used a double steal and two errors to take the lead for good.
Addison Russell hit two home runs — a three-run shot in the first inning and a solo shot in the second — for Tennessee, which blew an early 6-0 lead. Luis Flores was 3-for-5 with a homer and three RBIs.
Cedric Hunter went 3-for-4 with a solo home run for the M-Braves.
