Parks and Rec fall baseball

Registration for the Vicksburg Parks and Recreation Department’s fall baseball season will begin Monday and continue until Sept. 12. The registration fee is $25, and the league is for players ages 5-15. Coaches are also needed.

Parks and Rec co-ed softball

Registration for the Vicksburg Parks and Recreation Department’s co-ed softball league will begin Monday and continue until Sept. 12. The league is for both men and women, and the registration fee is $175 per team. There is an extra fee of $10 for each Warren County resident and $20 for residents of Claiborne, Sharkey and Issaquena counties. Registration packets are available at the Parks and Rec office on Army Navy Drive.

One-person scramble at Clear Creek

Clear Creek Golf Course will host a one-person scramble tournament on Friday. Each player will play two balls and then use the best shot through the green.

The entry fee is $50 and includes green fees, cart rental, lunch and drinks. Registration begins at 11 a.m., and the tournament will have a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m.

Clear Creek Ladies golf report

On Wednesday, the Clear Creek Ladies Golf Association hosted its August retirees scramble. The team of Del Cox, Frank McGowan and Tom Tinney came in first place. The team of Carol Roberson, J.W. Carter, Donnie Frith and Dave Williams was second, while Debra Robinson, Lloyd Clark, John Loboda and Wayne Scott came in third.

Robinson and Harold Whatley hit the longest drives. Closest to the pin honors went to Robinson, Sherron Engdahl, Rodney McHann and Clark McNair. Charlotte Crist, Dinah Lazor, Larry Cook and Frith made chip-ins.

Tomahawk Tromp at Tara Wildlife

The Tara Tomahawk Tromp, a 5K off-road trail run, is scheduled for Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at Tara Wildlife. The trail run will include course stations that involve shooting, spear chunking, knife and tomahawk throwing, archery, bear crawls, and water hazards. All station supplies, including weapons and ammunition, are provided.

The early registration fee is $30 per person, or $40 the day of the event. The fee for children 9 and under is $10, and for ages 10 to 17 it’s $20.

Gator Bait triathlon

The annual Gator Bait triathlon will be held Aug. 23 at Eagle Lake. The event will start from Messina Landing at 7 a.m., and will include a 1.5-kilometer swim, 40-kilometer bike race, and a 10-kilometer run. A running and biking duathlon will also be held, along with an open water swim.

Vicksburg, WC football ticket sales

Tickets for Vicksburg High and Warren Central football games are now on sale to past season ticket holders, and will go on sale to the general public on Aug. 18. Tickets are $7 per game, or $35 for the season.

Gator and Viking A-Club memberships are also on sale. A-Club membership cards are good for admission to all regularly scheduled sporting events within the Vicksburg Warren School District, with the exception of varsity football, Red Carpet Bowl events, and playoff games. A-Club memberships cost $100 for one person, or $175 for two people.
