Gore’s Hardware Co. was so packed with merchandise from its more than 60 years of supplying Vicksburg with hardware and hard-to-find specialties that a second auction has been set to liquidate the inventory.

The second auction of inventory will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30 at the store that occupies 1201 to 1203 Openwood St., said Hardy Katzenmeyer of Mississippi Action Service.

“There was such a large inventory on the first level that time ran out,” Katzenmeyer said of the first auction, which was Aug. 2.

A few items including a key-making machine, light fixtures and showcases remain on the first floor, but the second floor contains even more inventory including hard-to-find helicopter and airplane parts.

“The second auction will start in this section then move to the lower level where the heavy duty industrial plumbing parts, plumbing fixtures and various antique wheels and helicopter parts are located,” Katzenmeyer said in an email.
