James Robert Tuttle

James Robert Tuttle passed away at River Region Medical Center on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014, at the age of 78.
He was born in Lafayette County to Henry Horace and Sarah Beatrice Adams Tuttle. Mr. Tuttle served honorably in the Army from 1955 to 1957. He was a graduate of the University of Mississippi and received his masters in civil engineering at Georgia Tech University. He and his family moved to Vicksburg in 1968.
James was a member of Highland Baptist Church and served many years as Sunday school teacher, deacon, and choir member. He also served many years as an active member of Gideon’s International. James retired as assistant chief of engineering with the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers after 33 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and brother, Henry Horace Tuttle, Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah M. Tuttle of Vicksburg; daughter, Teresa K. Tuttle Bailey (Ron) of Chelsea, Okla.; sons, James M. Tuttle (Meg) of Cleveland, and Stephen L. Tuttle (Jennifer) of Brandon; two brothers, Jerry F. Tuttle and Donald W. Tuttle, both of Oxford; 15 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014, at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Brian Ivey officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the hour of the service. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Marvin Miller, Jim Brannon, David Pugh, Mickey Simmons, Dustin Lusby, Nathan Lusby, Jimbo Lusby, David Simmons, and Payton Tuttle. Honorary pallbearers will be Gideon’s International. Memorials may be sent to the Gideon’s International Vicksburg Camp, P.O.
