One hurt, two wanted in shooting

A Warren County man was wounded in a shooting early this morning near First East and Openwood streets, and two suspects are on the lam.

At 12:30 a.m. today, Levi Branch, 21, 120 Redhawk Road, was shot by two men, Vicksburg police Sgt. Randy Blake said.

Branch was undergoing surgery this morning, and his condition was unavailable, Blake said.

Albert Buchanan, 19, 365 Drayton Road, and Jeremy Bailey, 20, 1504 Lummie St., were being sought this morning in connection with the shooting, Blake said.

Anyone with information about the shooting suspects is encouraged to call Vicksburg police at 601-636-2511 or Central Mississippi Crime Stoppers at 601-355-8477. Callers to Crime Stoppers remain anonymous and do not have to testify in court. Crime Stoppers will pay a cash reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest of a felony suspect.

 

Phone, cash missing in burglary

A cellphone and cash were missing this morning following a burglary Monday in Vicksburg.

At 8:27 a.m. Monday, a Blackberry cellphone and a jar of cash were reported stolen from a vehicle in the 200 block of Avalon Court, Vicksburg police Sgt. Randy Blake said.

The burglary gained entry to the vehicle by smashing the passenger window, Blake said.
