M-Braves pull back into first-place tie

The Mississippi Braves broke open a scoreless tie with five runs in the seventh inning Tuesday night against Mobile, and pulled back into a tie atop the Southern League South Division standings.

Kyle Wren’s two-run double highlighted the big inning that propelled the M-Braves to a 9-3 win at Mobile. Mississippi added another run in the eighth and three in the ninth.

Cedric Hunter homered for the M-Braves, Barrett Kleinknecht hit a three-run shot in the ninth inning, and Kyle Kubitza and Gustavo Nunez had two hits apiece.

Nate Samson had an RBI double for Mobile, which scored all of its runs in the bottom of the ninth.

The M-Braves (34-24) pulled back into a three-way tie with Mobile (33-23) and Jacksonville (34-24) for the South Division lead with 12 games left in the regular season. Jacksonville lost 8-4 to Pensacola on Tuesday.

Mississippi and Mobile play the fourth game of their five-game series tonight at 7:05 in Mobile.
