The Mississippi Braves cleared one hurdle in the Southern League South Division on Wednesday night, but still couldn’t grab first place all for themselves.
Barrett Kleinknecht homered for the second straight game, Kyle Wren went 4-for-5, and the M-Braves scored four runs in the first three innings en route to a 6-2 road win over Mobile.
The victory moved the M-Braves a game ahead of the BayBears and into a tie with Jacksonville for the South Division lead. Jacksonville beat Pensacola 10-6 on Wednesday. Mississippi, Jacksonville and Mobile entered the day in a three-way tie for first.
Mississippi and Mobile play the finale of their five-game series tonight at 7:05 in Mobile. There are 11 games left in the regular season.
