Man jumps from moving car, leads police on chase

A Vicksburg man accused of hopping out of a moving stolen vehicle and leading police on a foot chase was held without bail this morning.
Jimmy Lyons, 29, 2501 Franklin St., was arrested at about 11:30 p.m. Thursday after bailing out of a moving stolen car near Bridge and Walnut streets, according to Vicksburg police records.
Lyons was being stopped by Sgt. Milton Moore for speeding in a 2006 Chrysler 300 when he jumped out of the vehicle, according to records. Moore entered the moving vehicle and put it into park before chasing Lyons on foot to Urban Court where he was arrested.
The car was stolen from the 700 block of Johnson Street, according to records.
Lyons was held without bail this morning awaiting his initial court appearance.
Man held for drunk driving
A Vicksburg man accused of drunk driving was held without bail this morning.
Reco Reed, 38, 147016 E. Magnolia St., was arrested by patrolman Judson Magloire at about 11 p.m. at Washington and China streets and was charged with third-offense driving under the influence, according to Vicksburg police records.
Reed was held without bail this morning awaiting his initial court appearance.
Gun, sunglasses missing in burglaries
A gun and sunglasses were among the items missing this morning following two auto burglaries in Warren County.
At 5:24 a.m. Thursday, a Jennings 9mm pistol valued at $150, a Garmin global positioning system valued at $400, a flashlight and a checkbook were reported missing from a GMC Sierra in the 2900 block of Mount Alban Road, according to Warren County sheriff’s records.
At 8:48 p.m., a pair of Costa sunglasses valued at $200 and a wallet were reported missing from a Toyota 4Runner the 10 block of Savage Road, according to sheriff’s records.
