Mary Eleanor Mathes

Mary Eleanor Mathes died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014. She was 82.
Ms. Mathes was born in Utica, where she lived most of her life. She attended Utica Christian Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, M.E. Mathes Jr., and sisters Donnie Collins and Elsie Carraway.
Survivors include a son, Melvin Eugene Mathes III, of Utica; a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Shuler, of Brandon; two brothers, E.H. “Bud” Martin of Utica and Larry A. Martin, of Terry; a sister, Eva Augustine of Brandon; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Services will be Monday, Aug. 25, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Utica Christian Church. Burial will follow at Utica cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, August 24, 2014 at Utica Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Brad Hartzog officiating. Glenwood Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
