Several sought in shooting

Four men accused of shooting at a vehicle that was driving on U.S. 61 near Iowa Boulevard were on the lam this morning.

At about 9 p.m. Friday, four or five men in a white Dodge Charger shot out a window and tire on a vehicle traveling north on U.S. 61 South just north of Iowa Boulevard, Vicksburg police Sgt. Randy Blake said.

The driver of the vehicle told police they approached him at a gas station on Pemberton Square Boulevard and they began to argue before the shooting, Blake said.

The man was not wounded in the shooting.

Anyone with information about the shooting is encouraged to call Vicksburg police at 601-636-2511 or Central Mississippi Crime Stoppers at 601-355-8477. Callers to Crime Stoppers remain anonymous and do not have to testify in court.

Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest of a felony suspect.

 

Man asleep at wheel charged with meth possession

A Warren County man was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine after deputies found him passed out behind the wheel of his truck on the side of Oak Ridge Road, Sheriff Martin Pace said.

At about 6 a.m. Monday, deputies found Rowdy W. Bridges, 31, 1000 Redwood Road, asleep behind the wheel of his Chevrolet truck on the side of Oak Ridge Road near Villanova Road, Pace said.

Bridges was examined by paramedics who determined he was suffering from no medical problems, Pace said.
Inside his vehicle, deputies found an uncovered container with several grams of methamphetamine, and a .22-caliber handgun, Pace said.

Bridges was held without bail this morning in the Warren County Jail awaiting his initial court appearance.

 

 

One charged with auto theft

A Vicksburg man accused of stealing a car was held without bail this morning.

Henry Earl Armstead, 31, 2418 Halls Ferry Road, Apt. 2, was arrested Friday and charged with auto theft and auto burglary, Vicksburg police Sgt. Randy Blake said.

Both offenses Armstead is charged with occurred July 16, Blake said.

Armstead was held without bail this morning in the Issaquena County Correctional Facility.

 

Burglars have busy holiday weekend

Burglars were busy over the Labor Day weekend, breaking into more than a dozen spots in the city and county.

At 4 a.m. Friday, an Oakley backpack, a Dell laptop, two iPads, a Blackberry phone, a garage door remote, a Motorola Bluetooth receiver and a Leatherman tool were reported missing from the 4300 block of Knights Lane, according to sheriff’s records.

Also at 4 a.m., a vehicle in the 4300 block of Woodside drive was also reported broken into, but nothing was missing, according to sheriff’s records.

At 5:51 a.m., a pistol valued at $800, three DVD players and a purse were reported stolen from the 2300 block of Hankinson Road, according to sheriff’s records.

At 6:19 a.m. Friday, a Dell laptop valued at $800, a Western Digital harddrive valued at $100 and an iPhone 4s valued at $400 were reported stolen from the 100 block of Dana Place. At 6:36 a.m., a pair of black binoculars and $50 in cash was also reported stolen in a separate burglary on Dana Place.

At 6:24 a.m. Friday, a .22-caliber revolver was reported stolen from the 100 block of Bottino Drive, according to sheriff’s records. At 6:29 a.m. Friday, a second vehicle was reported broken into on Bottino drive, but nothing was taken.

At 7:16 a.m. Friday, a Yeti cooler valued at $300, a Garmin global positioning system valued at $250 and a tool box and assorted tools valued at $100 were reported stolen from the 2200 block of Dogwood Road.

At 9:08 a.m. Friday, a 13-horsepower generator valued at $6,000 was reported stolen from a home in the 11600 block of Oak Ridge Road, according to sheriff’s records.

At 9:57 a.m. Friday, a Browning .22-caliber pistol valued at $400, a Ruger 9mm pistol valued at $600 and a black cloth holster valued at $40 were reported missing from a unlocked vehicle in the 10 block of Signal Hill Lane, Vicksburg police Sgt. Randy Blake said.

At 10:26 a.m., $10 in cash was reported missing from the 400 block of Mallet Road, according to sheriff’s records.

At 1:36 p.m. Friday, a GPS valued at $400 and college books valued at $400 were reported stolen form the 6000 block of Castle Drive.

At 6:21 p.m., Friday a Yamaha Kodiak 400 ATV valued at $2,000 was reported missing from Taylor Lake Hunting Club on Mississippi 465, according to sheriff’s records.

At 9:28 a.m. Saturday, an exercise machine valued at $5,500, a propane burner valued at $5,000, a PlayStation 3 valued at $300 and a PlayStation 4 valued at $400 were reported missing from a home in the 100 block of Village Drive, Blake said.

At 6:23 a.m. Saturday, a 12-foot trailer valued at $1,500, three tool boxes, a cutting torch, an air compressor, and a welding machine were reported missing from the 700 block of Mississippi 465.

At 1:56 p.m. Saturday, a Samsung TV valued at $800 was reported missing from the 100 block of Pecan Boulevard.

At 1 a.m. Saturday, a 47-inch Samsung TV valued at $700, a 39-inch Vizio TV valued at $400, a 32-inch LG TV valued at $400, two bracelets and a necklace were reported missing from a home in the 10 block of Stillwater Drive, Blake said.

At 10 p.m. Sunday, a generator valued at $1,000 was reported missing from a home in the 10 block of Great Lakes Road.

At 10:34 p.m. Monday, two diamond rings, two earrings, three gold chains, two jade bracelets, and antique doll pieces with a combined value of $4,000 were reported missing from a home in the 2500 block of Halls Ferry Road, Blake said.
