PORT GIBSON — Eugene Bell Jr., died Tuesday, August 26, 2014, in Fort Washington, Md. He was 61.
Mr. Bell worked in senior-level human resources positions at the Department of Navy, U.S. Treasury Department, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the U.S. Department of Education. He retired in 2009 as assistant director for the Human Resources Service Center in the Human Resources Branch of the U.S. Division of Administration.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Bell Sr. and Annie Kelly Bell; and two brothers, Walter Bell and Nathaniel Bell.
Survivors include his wife, Judith Bell of Fort Washington; two daughters, Lauren Marie Bell and Lena Kathryn Bell, both of Fort Washington; three brothers, Coles Bell and Adam Bell, both of Port Gibson, and James Bell Sr. of Vicksburg; three sisters, Harriette Howard and Lena J. Bell, both of Port Gibson, and Sophie Wren of Pattison; and nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014, at Magnolia M.B. Church in Port Gibson, with the Rev. Erwin S. Cosey Sr. officiating. Burial will be at the Bell Family Cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home of Port Gibson in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be Friday at the funeral home from 1 to 6 p.m., and Saturday at the church from 1 p.m. until the service.
