JACKSON — Melvin McFarland died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014, at University of Mississippi Medical Center. He   was 67.

Mr. McFarland was a retired farmer and resident of Bovina.

He was preceded in death by his best friend and companion, Pat Reed Shelley.

Survivors include two sons, Jeffrey Lane of Gainsville, Fla., and Kelvin Reed of Bovina; and a daughter, Tracy Anderson of Madison.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014, at Westhaven Memorial Funeral Home, 3850 Robinson Road, Jackson.

Visitation will be Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
