Edgar Carneal Woodyear, Jr., of Jackson, La. died Sept. 4, 2014 in Baton Rouge following a brief illness. He was 74.
Mr. Woodyear was born in Vicksburg and graduated from Tallulah High School and Louisiana State University. A retired engineer, farmer and contractor, he lived in Mound for most of his life and was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in St. Francisville, La.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edgar Carneal “Blue” Woodyear, Sr.; his mother, Dorothy Maxwell Woodyear; and his sister, Susan Woodyear Ingram.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary Acosta Woodyear, daughters Olivia Woodyear Elliott and Maria Woodyear Bowen; grandchildren Virginia Routh Bowen, Neal Risley Elliott III and Marshall Fielding Elliott; sisters Dorothy Anne Woodyear Milliken and Mary Woodyear Gallent, all of Baton Rouge, and Emily Woodyear Neumann, of Tallulah.
Visitations will be held at the family home, “Roseneath,” in Jackson, La. from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014 and 10-11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 8, 2014 at Grace Episcopal Church in St. Francisville. A Eucharist will be 8 a.m. Monday at Grace Episcopal Church. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Grace Episcopal Church, Trinity Episcopal Church, in Tallulah, American Heart Association or a charity of their choice.
