South Park instills success in students

The 2014-15 school year has started off strong at South Park Elementary. The teachers have implemented the various teaching methods and strategies that were presented during the district’s fall conference. In addition, our students are reading and writing across the curriculum, working cooperatively in groups, applying real world situations to solve math problems and utilizing technology.
The faculty and staff set high expectations for both students’ achievement and for their own performance, professional growth and development. We prepare our students to be critical thinkers, problem solvers, and lifelong learners that are ready for college, career and citizenship. We challenge our students by ensuring that our curriculum, instruction and assessments are rigorous, relevant and aligned to Common Core Standards. Our faculty and staff work extremely hard to ensure that our students are successful, both inside and outside the classroom. We are committed to providing a high-quality education for all students and constantly seek to help our students develop academically, socially and emotionally. Our students strive to be respectful, responsible and possess a positive attitude on a daily basis. Students are proud and demonstrate excellent leadership qualities. Every morning students from each homeroom class have an opportunity to begin the morning routine by reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, the South Park Pledge, the PBIS motto and singing a patriotic song.
Parental involvement is an essential part of every student’s success. We value parents as our partners and are committed to establishing strong parental involvement. Teachers and parents work together to create a climate where all students can learn and value learning. Each year we offer a series of event nights, such as Literacy, Math and Science Nights. These events focus on helping parents develop the skills and strategies to assist their children in reading, math, and science.
We are very fortunate to have active parent volunteers along with the Parent Teacher Organization. Several parents and grandparents assist teachers in the classroom and donate items that will enhance the educational program. Our PTO has assisted the school in providing incentives for academic and behavioral success. They have helped with the beautification of the campus, purchased educational materials and volunteered during school and after school hours.
Many community organizations have donated their time, talent and resources to enhance the school community and educational experience for our students. We appreciate the generosity and support from those organizations that directly and indirectly impact our school and the academic achievement of our students.
South Park Elementary is where goals are achieved and successful people emerge.
